LT1 optispark cover
Hey guys, i am using a rear mounting distributor on my lt1 instead of the optispark, and i was told i need a plate to cover where the opti use to be, i have a part # 12367600 for one, but the part description on gmpartsdirect.com states the following : This cover / plug is used to cover the hole on the front cover of a 1996 LT4 engine when the distributor is removed and a rear mounted distributor is used. Anyone know if this will work with most lt1 blocks, or is it only for the LT4, or do i have the wrong part #? Thanks.

Re: LT1 optispark cover
Your info is somewhat vague, but I am assuming that you could just use a old opticrap as a cover. Of course the drive gear would still need to be installed to seal off the front cover it that respect. Maybe look into that, remove the opti rotor, obviously not hook any eletrical to it and just use the stock unit.
Trying to remember what all is involved between the opti and the timing cover. Hope this might help.

Re: LT1 optispark cover
All that needs to be covered is the hole where the distributor drive goes through the front cover. I am not sure of that part number but its not that big of a piece you could have the front cover modified to plug that hole. Just my .02 Good luck!
What do you have this is in? prolly not an f-bod since you are somehow fitting a distributor under a cowl.
