car wont stay on

Okay guys. I have a computer with vats and a computer with out vats sitting here. I now know this answer. It dont matter. They both dont work. haha.

Whats going on is i swaped out my A4 to a t56 and I had Street and Performance Ship me a t56 computer to me. Well when it came it didnt work. The car ran for a second or two then it turns off. So they ship me a new one. Second computer Same thing. I do know that the stock A4 computer works. Hell i drove the car 2 hours to store it with the A4 computer in it. Am i missing something guys? Is there a procedure i have to go through to get the computer to cope the car or something?

What it sorta looks like to me is that the fuel pump is shutting down (maby). Im not sher. But i can hear it when i turn the key on then start the car. It starts and runs for 2 seconds then it shuts down.

Is the SES light on? IF so what is the code? Is the security light on or blinking? So what happens when you put the original computer back in?

SES light. I dont know if it stays on or not. Because the car never stays on long enough for me to know if its going to go off. Just rightnow i ran the codes and the computer isnt throwing a code. Also when i plug in the original computer the car runs just fine, except for the speedo not working and such. But the motor atleast runs. But when i hook up the new computers the car starts and then shuts off after 2 seconds of running or so. Not just one computer either. TWO. I have two t56 computer sitting here on my desk. Neither of them work. thanks for the reply by the way.

Just a dumb idea. Why don't you try jumping the fuel pump prime connection and start it with one of the bad computers? See if the jumper will keep it running for more than a few seconds. Then at least for the mfrs sake, they will know where the problem is if it does keep it running longer.

At that point they may be able to tell you if something needs changing or if there is truly a problem with their ECM's.

Re: car wont stay on

you could try unplugging everything from the T56 and seeing. why didnt you just tune the stock computer for you manual? does it shut off as if you turned the key off, or does it die like it's losing fuel or spark, or diesel out, or backfire? did you disable the park/neutral safety and/or wire it to your clutch pedal (of course it shouldn't start if that were the problem)? have you had it NOT start when you've tried?

Re: car wont stay on

Okay I jumped the pump. It still doesnt stay on. It sher does sound like it starves for gas though.

Yeah when it shuts off it kinda stumbles then it shuts down. But real fast like. Its not like when you turn the key to turn it off. It doesnt diesel or backfire or anything like that. The nutruel switch i wire it strait. So it doesnt matter if the clutch is in or not. And your right. It wouldnt neven start.

I didnt program my stock computer because I had Street and Performance ship me a computer already programed so i didnt have to wait to program just plug and play. (yeah right). I didnt know I would have this problem. I wish i did now. Thats another thing that makes me ponder. If it works in the stock A4 computer. Whats in the new computer that keeps it from working? Reality the A4 computer should give me problems not the other way around. Im almost ready to pay somebody to fix this. Im pretty lost on it.

You can reprogram your stock computer just fine, that's what I did when I did the swap. If you don't want to do it yourself, I will do it for real cheap...

Dude. If you live closer ide deff. use you. I wish i could find someone in the LA area or something that could do it. The guys who did the programing called me the other day and said its deff. a computer problem but dont know what it was. That kinda scares me. Any how. Im going to try and get my money back and I can send him his mestup one.

And the $250 i get back. Ill pay it to someone who can program it right. So my car runs.

Re: car wont stay on

I'm in the San diego area right now. If you have the time on Sunday or monday, you could come get me and I could show you how to program it. I'm pretty bored up here right now, so if you want to do this I'll do it for free.

The A4 computer works because nothing is wrong with it. There is nothing on the transmission that could cause that problem in my opinion. From what you're telling me, it seems that you have not one, but two corrupt computers. The reason I say this is because your A4 computer works just fine. I can't say for sure WHY the other computers aren't working, but I 99.9% gaurantee they are the problem.

Let me know...

Street and Performance called me and said its their fault. Its their programing. So a refund is on the way. I found one for a 150 bucks in LA. Stock t56 computer. Im thinking about buying it.
