lt1 modifications
Hey guys, I'm new to LT1's and need some input on this. I have the engine out of my 95 camaro because I'm going through all of it. I thought while it was out I would dump some cash in her. So, the question is whats the best mods for a strong running car with great low and midrange power? Do I put and LT4 kit on it, or do I piece it together with a comp cams stick and a set of heads from edlebrock or AFR? Also the car is an auto but I want to put some gears in it. It will be a daily driver. Any setups/info would be great. Thanks guys!
If you're looking for great low/midrange power, I'd use the stock castings and put bigger valves in them and do some light port work. Then, use an LT4 Hotcam kit (or something similar). I had this setup and the car was still real torquey and had pretty good pull up top. Or, you could just throw a supercharger on it

Depends on how much you would like to spend. Do a couple searches and you will find a ton of different setups.
For a daily driver, alot of people are going with the LE1 or LE2 setup. Check out http://www.eportworks.com/ for more information.

Edelbrock, LT4 and AFR are all bad ideas, you would make more power for less money with properly ported stock castings.
This time of year my Caprice is my daily driver and flywheel it is easily closer to 500 than 400. Same day same track 500 miles from home it has outrun trailered stroker cars with bigger heads.
The most important thing you can learn is there is a HUGE difference between what the majority of people will say is best and what actually works. Most people prefer a good marketing line over results.

What is your budget and definition of daily driver? A nice turbo setup would be the most reliable and most streetable, but also the most expensive.
