LT1 Mechanic needed in tulsa

Hey y'all, looking to find a reputable mechanic (chevy LT1 1994 z-28) who can diagnose/troubleshoot/repair VERY rough running motor.

Its a friends car car and i'm trying to help him the best i can.

in the short amount of time i've researched the forums, most of it points to the dreaded optispark issues.....

Thx in advance for any help or advice y'all can give.

Thx.

Has he made any attempt to diagnose the problem himself - checked fuel pressure, scanned for codes, run a data log on the PCM? How old are the spark plugs and wires - checked the condition of plugs, looked for burned wires or signs of arcing in the dark? How many miles on the engine? Any engine mods?

Re: LT1 Mechanic needed in tulsa

Thx for the reply.

well, yes, turns out plugs were fouled really bad was running super rich, and the compression chk indicated BHG's
$$$$$$!$

he's going to get that all taken care of and hopefully the Chevy thunder will return!!

it only has 144k on it btw....

i inow this is prob not popular advice, but i suggested an LS swap to him or at least a hairy cam for the LT1 while it's pulled apart; but he just scoffed at all that.... <sigh>

Port the stock heads, add matching cam for up to 500 HP at the flywheel, on the stock bottom end.
