Exclamation lt1 maximun chamber cc's ??

Tried searching but search didn't turn up anything. I'm stroking a lt1 to 383 and would like to open up the chamber some to lower the compression ratio. What is the largest that this chamber can be opened up safely ??

why not just get the correct pistons(you need them anyway) to get the CR you desire?

Re: lt1 maximun chamber cc's ??

On this particular motor I am using -12.5 cc dish pistons and I am planning to deck the block so i have about .038 piston to head clearance. According to my calculations that will put me right at 11 cr. and I wanted to back it down a little to about 10.5 cr. Also I recently picked up a 400 and I was thinking of doing the conversion of the lt1 head which involves welding up the 4 corner holes so it can be used on a gen 1 block . Check out lt1.com for all the details. lt1 heads and intakes are going for dirt cheap but I would need a way to back down the cr on the 400 also. I know this is probably a little more work but I dont mind . http://web.camaross.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I would probably look at Trickflows before trying to hog signifigant material out of stock chambers.

I routinely use factory LT1 heads modified to 64-65cc for many of the supercharged motors I build.

Ya back it down much more than 11-1 and it will run like a t***. Your cam will tell ya what compression to run to get your DCR in the 8.5-9.0 range.
But it's your engine.

I had guessed he was going boost from this response I take it that is not the case?

If staying NA then I have to agree keep the compression up.
