lt1/lt4 valve covers
I guess this is yet another example of why we should remember not to try to lump all GM specs into one basket. We all know how GM JUST LOVES TO CHANGE THINGS.
Just to add a little more info, my son and I both have 96 LT1s and BOTH have composite covers. His covers didn't require any modification whatsoever to allow Scorpion, 7/16", full-body 1.7/1.65 RRs to clear. His covers just dropped right in place.
However, the stock covers on my engine wouldn't clear the Scorpion poly-locks (they cleared the Scorpion rockers though, but not the locks). Locks are too tall and the tops of the poly-locks prevented the covers from dropping all the way down to seat on the head. Also, I'm running different heads and a slightly different valve train.
