Is there any difference between the lt1 and lt4 knock sensor?

Re: lt1/lt4 knock sensor

Can you use the lt4 knock sensor on an lt1, not the module but the sensor, picked up a new knock sensor this morning and when I got home finally read the box(smart move huh) and see it's an lt4 sensor, nowhere to get another till monday can I use it?

Knock Sensor....not as far as I know. There are two different types depending on the year of your car, 93-95 and 96-97.

Knock Module.....yes, the LT4 most of the time will cure false knock since it is less sensitive.

Why do you ask?

I hate it when that happens, lol. I should learn to type faster.

Since you have it in hand crawl up under the car and compare it to yours. What year is your car? The LT4 was for 96, so if your car is older than that, 93-95, you might have a problem.

Re: lt1/lt4 knock sensor

Mine went bad and as I wrote above the one I ended up with is an lt4 sensor, now I can't get one till monday and was wondering if the lt4 was usable, I know the module is but didn't know about the sensor.

I don't believe it will work for you. Next time you go to the parts store give them the part number off of this website to help them get you the right part.

Re: lt1/lt4 knock sensor

I've never heard of an LT4 specific knock sensor. As far as I know, the LT4 engines came with the same sensor as all the other 1996 and 1997 LT1 engines. Since the one you have is for an OBD-II engine, it isn't going to work in your OBD-I 1994. The OBD-II sensor has an impedance of ~100Kohms, the OBD-I is about 4.5Kohms. They are not interchangeable (unless the PCM is internally modified).
