LT1 with LS1 Heads?

I was talking to a friend today and he said it could be done with just having my intake cross drilled for the heads

Do a search, this has been discussed before.

A couple guys have noticed that LS1 and SB Ford heads are extremely close to matching (I think head bolts are off by 1/16" or something ridiculously close like that) but that's about the only other (somewhat) close swap out there that I've heard of. I'll have to ask my buddy on that to verify that Ford info.

In a nutshell, the LS1 heads have a different angle, different bolt pattern (I think) and non-siamesed ports. And even if you machined 'em to fit, Your cam wouldn't work for them (intake and exhaust valves are flipped on some cylinders compared to SBC). You might as well just buy an LS1.

Lt1 = intake, exhuast exhuast, intake intake, exhuast exhuast, intake...

LS1 = intake exhaust, intake exhuast, intake exhuast...

see why it wont match up?

You'd have about as much luck trying to put a VTEC head on.

LS1 uses a symmetrical exahust port pattern. No other SBC uses that, only the Rat motors.
