First, this is the Internet, and everyone is welcome to disagree. We choose to disagree, which is how it should be. Frustration on anyone's part can be part of the process, unfortunately.
Second, I would much rather screw up a simple procedure and learn from it than screw up a difficult procedure and end up spending a lot more time and money on it. I usually learn quite a bit the first time I attempt something, and the OP should as well.
"Mix and match" implies a haphazard approach. Perhaps you meant "one area at a time"? Not trying to put words in your mouth, merely attempting to clarify.
AFA the MAF itself, I investigated it thoroughly on my own time. I am glad you have positive results. Personally, I would rather remove the obstructions and smooth the MAF and leave the screen in for the reason I stated. To each his own, and hopefully the OP will investigate on his own prior to making the decision. Search "descreened MAF" and you will find lots of opinions.
OP, here is a link on how to port the MAF, as well as some free mods, if you want to do that: http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm Read through the whole site, information is kind of mixed up in the various sections.
It is unfortunate you chose to take umbrage, none was intended.

As I told you in your other thread, replacing your head gasket is NOT going to fix your zero oil pressure! Bolting heads to your engine in it's current state is a total waste of money and time. Most likely your engine needs to be rebuilt completely.
