LT1 or LS1

My 93 z was totalle out last monday, hit by a big rig. so im looking for a new z28 or SS i wanted an honest opinion from the people on the board. Which should i get another LT1 or an LS1? I know that Ls1's are rated real fast and with more horsepower than LT1's but in my experience I gave every Ls1 i raced a spanking including SS with my 93 z with cai, flowmasters, hypertech and suspension. So im iffy about what to do but i kinda want a LT1 Z with ported heads and headers. but guys give me your opinions.

Which car do YOU want? That's all that really matters.

Ahhh man i hate to be one of the people that says this stuff. But you should really do a search for this......use the same exact title of this thread for the search; there's a million.

Besides they will have all the info on them both that you'll ever want to know.

having owned a modded 96....and getting a 99...the ls1 was alot more powerful.

the top end is just plan sick.

see if you can pull the parts off the totaled car and swap them onto the next car. i was able to do this and it was great.

what wouldn't swap from a lt1 to the ls1 i sold for $$ to buy the basic ls1 boltons.

i kindda find it difficult to beleive you spanked alot of ls1's with just intake and exhaust. maybe poorly driven ls1's. not trying to start a war or insult your word, but it takes quite a bit to beat a stock ls1. specially since most dyno bone stock at what most lt1's dyno with intake, headers and full exhaust.

What do you want and what can you afford??

The LT1 is going to be cheaper to buy, cheaper to mod, cheaper on insurance, cheaper overall, but in the end slower mod for mod.

The LS1 will be more expensive to purchase, more costly to mod, more expensive to insure, and will be faster mod for mod.

It's a cost effectiveness ratio, which you need to figure out the cost availability side.
