lt1 leak
lt1 leak
How could I tell where my leak is coming from? I think it might be the intake leaking but I am not sure. I got a rag and checked behind the intake. There was some black junk back there. There is oil coming off of the oil pan and transmission. But I can't find where its coming from. I am thinking intake or rear main. (hopefully intake) I am just not sure where to look. Sorry about the horrible grammer, I am texting this from my phone. Thanks a lot for ur help.
oil leak
im assuming ur leak is coming from either the back of the intake manifold, oil pressure sensor, the back of the oil pan, or the rear main seal. i had a leak recently just like the one u described...mine turned out to be the rear main seal.
you should get a flashlight, jack up the car, thats what i did. i hope this helps dude

usually the rear main will show up inside the converter cover and any other leaks wont. if its draining down the trans then i would say you need to change the intake gaskets and redo the seals on the intake ends. the ends are notorious for leaking on these motors and if you dont get enough rvt on there it gets blown out pretty quick. like 94z28 says check the oil pressure sensor back there while your changing the intake gaskets. the 93 i have now had been overheated by the previous owner and the pan gasket was hard as a rock and was leaking along with most of the rest of them. so i got to change it to. not fun. is the oil engine oil? check to make sure u dont have a trany leak adding to the puddle. the lines can sometimes get stress cracks in em. easy to see, they usually have a drip hanging to lead you to the problem. i had a leak with the tranny too on mine and it was just lose bolts that needed re torqued.
I really hope its the intake. I can change that but I don't really know how to change the rear main seal. It looks like to me that the oil is running down the tranny. I'll have to check it again tomorrow.
Incase it is the rear main, how hard is it to change?

the oem rear seals are a pretty good design on these motors and hold up good. hardest part is pulling the tranny. once its out then u pull the flywheel and the seal adapter is right there. u have to drop the oil pan a little to get it out.

yea i agree with craby on what he said about the tranny leak make sure your not leaking that as well. i had an oil leak recently i had two leaks my oil pan and my rear main seal.but if u think if its the intake drive the car for awhile, then get a flashlight, jack up the car support it on jack stands, and look underneath the car thats how exactly i found my leak. taking the tranny out was no fun
i hope this works bro and good luck
If the oil is running down your trans than it is either rear of intake or oil pressure switch but it is definitely not you rear main if its on top of the trans
