lt1 knock sensor/ or icm

thrse 2 diff ones i think for a 93-95 and a 96-97?

if so then what happens if you run a 96-97 on a 95? or basically what happens if you run the wrong one? cant find what my problem is with teh car having no power up top

or can the icm make the car feel sluggish up top like it ahs no timing?

the ICM has a different plug for 96/97 than 92-95
the knock sensors have a different part# as well.NOT TOO SURE but i think you have to get a tune to use an obd1 knock sensor in an obd2 pcm and such!

i know that...im asking waht the pcm will do...i think they have differant ohm perameters...like 1-50, and 40-150...just not sure which is which and what it would do if it was wrong

icm is correct not worried about that, just sayin if its going bad can i pull a bunch of timing or what? i think mine gets hot and shuts down!

If you have the wrong KS, the computer will pull up to 15 degrees of timing constantly. It will also set a trouble code. An ICM problem usually does not cause any timing retard.

what happend if the knock sensor isnt gettin a constant signal? i know my plug is broken but i never get a ses light on this car....

i really need to get a snap on scanner and watch this car...all the sensors and what they are doing(but im not too familiar with perameters)...it idles high(1000)...idlesrough...when it gets hot it idles down and up and gets worse and worse till it dies (around 215)...from a 20 punch on bald tires it dead hooks and takes like 3 seconds to get to 6k...gets slower with the cutout open madz28 tune and lt4 knock sensor...cars just frustrating, i cant figure it out, ive checked fuel pressure and its great...its ignition and it doesnt miss (cept rough idle) somethin is making it idle rough and pull timing...but it pulls great from (2000-3500)

If you put an "lt4 knock sensor" in it, it would slow down, due to the knock retard Shoebox mentioned. You want to use an LT4 knock module. Actually, there is no specific LT4 knock sensor.... the LT4's used the same knock sensor as the 96/97 LT1's.

If the KS plug is broken, and the PCM has no signal from it, you will get the constant knock retard mentioned above. Fix that first.

What year was the "pullout" motor? If its a 96 or 97, you have a knock sensor mismatch, and you will not have enough timing, because of what Shoebox described. Getting info to help you is difficult. Getting you to read the answers seems even harder. Shoebox told you that if you have the wrong knock sensor, you could have up to 15* timing being pulled. You seem to feel the engine runs like it has "no timing" at the top end. Where are we going with this?

You can measure the resistance of the knock sensor and tell which type it is.
