lt1 issues

just got my LT1 tuned and am pretty disappointed. only put down 230hp and 250tq. from what i can tell this is at a min 50 hp low

89 camaro with 94 imp ss lt1 cc503 1.6 rr upgraded ls6 beehive springs comp lifters and pushrods. exhaust is shorties y to 3 " msd coil msd wires new plugs

why would this be so low???

Also under very slight acceleration the car spits and sputters

Your last statement sounds like a clue. I wouldn't be wasting time on a dyno if it wasn't running right.

Re: lt1 issues

It sounds like you are trying to figure out the problem and all you know is what the HP is at right now. I would get some scanning done and see what the engine is doing. My dataMaster logs have been very good at finding them. Not sure if you took it to someone to change the computer for your mods or not.

Re: lt1 issues

Sounds like spark issue. Start it up with a friend at night in the dark. Look under the hood for a light show just make sure its completely dark. Rev a little also since it sputters under accel. U can also pull plug wires one at a time and see if it changes the idle quality of the car. If no change when u pull a wire u found your problem

Re: lt1 issues

What does the Dyno Graph look like. Some times that can be like a map to your problems.

Re: lt1 issues

I've seen side by side comparison of various dyno types, including comparisons of the Mustang and DynoJet, and the difference showed the Mustang reading about 5% lower. Not enough to account for the huge shortfall reported above.
