well chvy high peformance did something like this is iron better than aluminum they believe that iron with the right combos will come out ahead, but the test they did were between to different style heads of iron and aluminum and aluminum come out ahead with about 8 pbs-ft torque

i always thought that vortec came before the LT1 heads iron or aluminum joe mondello was working with GM for the heart shaped chambers in vortec heads almost 30 years ago
but i thought vortec heads came out in the late 80's tho
