LT1 Ignition Problem

I am at my witts end. I have a 1995 Camaro z28 6 speed hard top. It was running perfectly until the other day. Shut the car off went back to take it out again an hour later and nothing but the key beep when I put the key in and turn.

The gauges do not turn on the radio and windows do not work. VATS system is working, I have no frayed or broken wires, no blow fuses, nothing. Door locks, horn, and lights all work and the battery is good. I cannot find any bad ground or anything.

Everything I have read suggests the VATS system, but mine is working. The key reads 3.02 and when the key is in the wiring harness registers the same when the key is in the run position. This is my 6th Camaro and the first time this has ever happened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

should mention, no starter clicks, no turning over, no dash lights when attempting to start the car.

Re: LT1 Ignition Problem

Have you checked the fusible link which provides +12v to the ignition switch (on the red wire in the ignition switch connecter)?

Re: LT1 Ignition Problem

Update. New ignition switch. Still no start but I get my power windows back. There is evidence of the harness shorting out. The blue 5 part connector. So I am awaiting a new pig tail to come in. I now have a clicking deep in the dash behind the stereo when I wiggle the connector. Any ideas?

Re-evaluate after you replace the pigtail.

Re: LT1 Ignition Problem

I would rule out starter. The ignition switch on the steering column is the likely culprit.

Re: LT1 Ignition Problem

Car is up and running. Bad switch and bad harness. Now I can put it all back together.
