Your going to need a lot more than that to rebuild. The pistons, bearings, and all need to be replaced. I don't know every part like others on here but to rebuild it right you need what they call the short block rebuilt. that is the lower half of the motor. Then you will need to check the heads out too. I'm sure some others will be answering you soon. good luck with it.

Josh,

You would benefit from someone who can be close at hand during the time you're making these decisions. As well-meaning as the contributors to CamaroZ28.com can be, occasionally there are disagreements on which parts which steps are logical for people to take. You are the only one who is writing checks and you know what's right for you.

There is a Baltimore-area shop called Maryland Performance Specialties that is run by a family that knows cars and won't cheat you. I would not hesitate to send one of my own kids to that family if they needed help making decisions. If you choose, you can do a search for the company name and get the location information. Feel free to tell them that you were referred by a person who knows them.

I second Chuck Norris,

There are allot of things to be aware of when rebuilding a motor, many people have varying opinions on the exact steps to take.

I will say this, I rebuilt my first motor at age 17, and I wished that I had someone around to point out everything I was doing incorrectly.

I just finished my 4th motor build about 2 weeks ago, and it runs beautifully

It takes experienced knowledge, and starting with someone who knows there stuff will make future endeavors that much easier

Also, its much easier on the wallet to take into part every component that will be needed before purchasing equipment.
