Can 94 lt1 heads be used on a vortec block with a diffrent intake of course. Just wondering if the heads have to be reversed flow. Thanks

Ya could use conventional SBC heads and they are a dime a dozen out there. The LT1 head is not the best flowing head by a long shot and to re do them back to conventional SBC is a waste of money and time IMO.

Re: lt1 heads on a sbc

Just us the L31 iron Vortec heads, they're very very similar to the iron LT1 heads but for a conventional SBC. They outflow the Aluminum LT1 heads by a fair bit stock. If you're running a hot cam with over about .470 lift you will want some better vavle springs and a quick clearance job on the valve guides though.

But anyway you'll likely make more power w/ Vortecs than you would w/ the stock AL LT1s... You can get a set on ebay for about what LT1 heads go for.

I was running box stock Vortecs on the 350 in my 87Z, w/ a 218/224 cam, edelbrock headers, etc. There is no doubt it would annihilate my current bolt on LT1...

..

The Vortecs do outflow the early LT1 aluminums not by a huge amount but do outflow them enough to make pulling the Vortecs and modding LT1 aluminums to fit nothing but foolish.
