lt1 heads/cam
lt1 heads/cam
ok heres my question
i want to run the Le3 heads with the le2 cam. now if i threw a 100-150 shot threw that would it destroy my stock internals. also what all would be NESSISSARY to replace. i know with that combo i would need SFC's,LCA's,torque arm my question is what else would i need to put that power to the ground and will a 4l60 with a shift kit and stock rear in a 91 camaro z28 be able to take the abuse? im on a tight budget but at the same tiem i dont want to break parts at the strip and not have the cash to fix it right away

Re: lt1 heads/cam
Dont launch it hard, that fixes your bad budget for the strip lol. Just chill out and take it easy on that rear end/drive line.
Your gonna need alot for that package.
Plan on the tranny starting to slip in no time. Even with the shift kit. They dont hold up to that kind of power/abuse.
And plan on having to replace the pistons. While you are at it though, you would be an idiot to use the stock rod bolts, or bearings. So rebuild the bottom with quality bearings, ARP rod bolts, and good, forged, pistons.

Re: lt1 heads/cam
I would maximize the Head and Cam package before really doing anything with the bottle... especially on a 2 bolt main stock bottom end car, running a stock drivetrain, and a budget to be considered........I'd mabe wait to throw the bottle on it when you already have another fully built forged bottom end ready(or almost ready) to drop in.........My point is that an LE3 Headed, LE2 Cammed, "Stock" bottomed end car, is a big enough gamble without the bottle.......with the bottle, it won't last very long at all, and the drivetrain will be quick to go as well........Im surprised mine is still holding together, and mine is only a LE2 headded car with a "very" small LE1 cam.........good luck with it.........Joe

Re: lt1 heads/cam
^ Not true ... 99% of parts break launching **** hard.
You can build one hell of a street car, and not break parts on it if your easy on the launch.
In all honesty though, plan on breaking ****. Dont spend all of your 7K ... I would keep at least 3K of it set aside for a new forged stroker when you blow this up, or a new tranny when it lets loose.
On your list, add 36lbs injectors and a CAI. Dont forget about needing all the gaskets, hardware, etc. Plan that in your budget cause it adds up fast.
