You don't "need" new heads. If you want to improve your heads, you could just get yours ported. Even a budget port job from any of the vendors here would show a nice improvement over stock.

Most popular are Lloyd Elliot and Advanced Induction. There's also Port Pros and GTP.

If you want new heads, I would have to recommend the Darts. They are much cheaper than other aftermarket heads and have smaller combustion chambers so you can reach a higher compression more easily.

What's your budget?

I guess you could do it in that order as well. For me, the budget is always the first thing I look at. Then I try to maximize my goals for the given cost.

it's more of a lateral process for me as opposed to a linear one

Be aware that the listed rpm range from Comp is nearly 1000rpms off. All their rpm ranges for LT1s are way off. Best guess is they do not account for what the LT1 intake does to powerband vs. an old dual plane intake on a gen 1 motor.

IMO too much duration and rpm to be prudent on a stock shortblock.

Advanced Induction gets my vote for heads.

that will be a large/lumpy cam, but I disagree about the rpm power band being too high.

my 383 peaked at 6100rpm with a 233/239 cam, so in a 350 it would prolly be right around 6500rpm with ported heads. maybe 66-6700 with some really nice flowing heads compared to stock ported.

depends on what you want.

so whats your goals?

Comp lists to 5800 for that cam, I call that way off. Cam I have is mid 220s intake and I rev it to just about 6500. This is with stock ported heads.

This cam also has a tendancy to surge a lot.

It can work, fair number of cars have gone fast with it, but there are better choices, that will drive better and make more power.

Personally on a stock shortblock I have and recommend staying smaller, maybe not a lot but a little smaller anyway.

Id be very suprised (infact Id bet money) if that cam in a 355 peaked at 5800rpm. no way in hell. ok, maybe in a stock headed/throttle body application.

and 96caprice, you have a very heavy car. what works best for you is not at all the same for a much lighter car. you need more power down low then he does.

have you had your car on a dyno? curious where yours peaks at with mid22x duration?

i would like to get as much power i could out of it but im not trying to spend a whole lot of money but want a good set of heads. I dont plan on drag racing it or anything so it doesnt have to be to radical.

Then you will be ok with stock heads and a tune. It won't be near optimal, but you will get a good power increase.

On the other hand, check out LE and AI for their budget packages. If you can afford those, then that's what I would recommend you get.

Unfortunately, LE's site is down. He is Nighttrain66 on here, I believe.

Here is AI's site:
http://advancedinduction.com/AiProductsLT1.html

You should really call them and tell them what you need and they will design a set for you. They are supposedly really good guys.
