LT1 headers

Just put headers on the LT1. Minor issue is with the alternator support bracket that goes from the back of the alternator to the old exhaust manifold stud/header bolt. Has anyone left this bracket off? How do I attach it with headers?

Re: LT1 headers

My Edlebrock shorties came with an extra bolt and spacer to attach the bracket to the head. You should have an extra hole in the flange for this.

Yes, I have that spacer. It goes in the hole close to the exhaust port, correct? If I use the outer hole on the flange, it looks like the bracet will hit on the p/s hose.

Re: LT1 headers

Check out step 9 on page of the Edelbrock instructions. Here is the link: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...6000/68942.pdf

It says to use the forward hole (away from the exhaust port). I currently have mine disassembled so I can't take a picture for you. I should be putting mine back together in a couple of days so let me know if you need a picture and I'll take one for you.

Re: LT1 headers

I eliminated both of the small brackets for the alternator. Been running that way with no problems for years now.

Sure, a picture wouldn't hurt. If worse comes to worse, I'll just leave the bracket off, but I should be able to get it on there.
