LT1 Guideplate question

Do I need to use the 14011051 guideplates on all 8 cylinders or just on #1,2,5 and 6 and regular SBC guideplates on the other 4?

Im not trying to be a wise guy.....but why would you think that? Is the valve spacing different from cylinder to cylinder?

Not to speak for Bud, but looking at regular guideplates installed on the LT1, some pushrod angles seem to be more out of whack to the naked eye than others. That may be where the thinking is headed.

Yeah I know........ I was thinking maybe he had some goofy refurb heads with different valve spacing that he was trying to accomodate for. 14011051 plates should work fine on all eight Bud.

Actually I read it on the GMPartsdirect.com site. That's what turned up when I entered the part number.

Yeah, but I wonder if they were meaning on the V6 engine, since it does not mention a V8? I would just go with a full set.

Is the spacing different between the 14011051 and the regular sbc (4808-8) ?

Yes, the GM plates were ment to fit LT1, 90deg. V6 and I beleive fast burn heads. All of which have different valve spacing than a SBC head.
