Lt1 in foreign car

I had to sell my camaro to put down on my house the past summer.
I have a 93 Mazda that gets me from A to Z.
I can't put out for another Camaro yet...maybe end of this year I will be able to. I have access to getting a LT1 for cheap. Needs minor maintenance like the valve cover leak normally associated with this motor.
I am toying with the idea of putting into my Mazda. I know a lot of you will shun the idea. I am asking for help from those who can guide me in the right direction to start this project.

Yup. But need to know which Mazda, I have swapped LT1's into 240Z datsun, S-10 Trucks, older F-Bodies (doing another right now 1970 RS, 95 LT1 T-56) and Porshce 944's. I take it you either an 3RD GEN RX7 or a Miata? You will need a Turbo II RX7 rear, or a 3rd gen 13btt rear end in there, custom built drive shaft and make the motor mounts, I would install a Auto Meter full gauge set in your dash, and build your own bezzel. good at electronics?
there is a place by you called Lee's High Tech do a search, or you can bring it to my shop in Wisconsin he he!

Unless you're good at fabricating parts yourself, it's probably going to cost you more to swap an LT1 into another car than it will be to just search for a cheap LT1 F-body.

I'm thinking he has a 929, because of his user name.

The user name is b/c of the Motorcyle I own 01 HondaCBR 929.
And coincedently I own a 93 Mazda 929. I want to do something different and if I can get as much info before I start the project the better. I'm mechanically inclined to do most of the work and have buddies who are all into cars and have different expertise to lend a hand.

Re: Lt1 in foreign car

The tape measure is your friend. Measure the engine and make as complete a dimensioned drawing as you can noting all the points that stick out, the shape of the pan, where the exhaust has to go. You then have to do the same thing with your 929 engine/trans compartment. Hopefully, everything on the first drawing fits inside the second drawing. If you have conflicts for a given space, how easy would it be to resolve? Typical problem areas are the steering shaft to engine block or exhaust, oil pan to X-member, engine compartment not long enough (a possibility since the car was a V6), no hood clearance (fortunately LT1 is pretty low profile). Can you fit a large enough radiator to cool it? Is there room for a decent exhaust under the car? If you can accomplish the above without radical surgery the rest of the details are fairly doable.

Mazda 929=front wheel drive????

Ohhhh, nevermind, it is rear wheel drive. That would be a pretty fun swap!

Thanks. Another interesting swap I heard about is guy who put a LT1 in a late 80s Toyota 4runner and by the way he also dropped a TT Supra motor (2j) into his Lexus SC300.

Re: Lt1 in foreign car

a friend of mine had like a 90 mazda 929, he did some measurements and says it will fit front to back and side to side. dont know about the oil pan or exhaust, but from quick measurements, it "fits" in the hole. this was a v6 car also. we were going to put a 305 he had laying around in it just for fun, but the city complained and we had to junk the car
