LT1 exhuast question

alright, ive got a place thats gonna make me a true dual setup and install. I just need to know about the cat. converter, as in if/when i drop it i know itll throw a code to the comp but will it hurt performance any when it gets that code? I'm lookin at gettin rid of all the computer stuff eventually anyway, so if i have to have the 02 sims ill just wait and get the true duals installed when i change it over to a carb and distributor..

thanks in advance

Re: LT1 exhuast question

Shouldn't throw a code. It didn't when mine was deleted.
Shouldn't hurt, but help your performance (just a teency bit) and be way louder.

Re: LT1 exhuast question

then whats the point of the 02 sims if it doesnt throw a code without a cat? why would anyone sell (performancewise) something that does no good?

Re: LT1 exhuast question

it works great if you get rid of your emmissions stuff that will throw codes and then you have no real need for o2's if you run your own tune on a laptop. thier are different reasons for them.

Re: LT1 exhuast question

but right now i do have all factory emissions stuff, so will the o2 sensors throw a code without the cat and screw with performance? i remember reading a little here and there about em on this forums but still dont fully understand if they affect performance if you remove the cat without replacing them with simulators. big evil sounds like hes right but i remember in my firebird when i removed the cat it would sometimes throw a code but the car would get outrun easily by other 3.4 camaro and firebirds that were just as stock and some of them completely stock, the bird just had deleted cat and flowmaster exhuast, this is why i wander if the cat removal without changing the sensors to sims affects performance, or if i just had a weak freak bird
