Machine work will depened greatly on where you live, gasket and header prices can be found easily on Summit's website.

That is such a broad question it honestly depends on the quality
of the build , builder , parts quality , and what you wanna skip on

well, it would be a stock rebuild, reuse stock crank, cam, pistons/connecting rods, probably new rockers/pushrods. headers i figure about 200-300

If the head and deck are close enough to flat and the rest of the engine is in pretty good shape, no spun bearings or scored crank or deep scratches in the cylinder wall, you could probably do it for $500. That's assuming you do just about everything yourself, and just get the block tanked/honed.

A Re-ring kit alone is $330 So it could be done for $500, but barely. To do a standard rebuild I would geuss in the $2000 range.

EDIT: If you do do it alone I have .010" under rod and main bearings and 9966 headgaskets I could get you a great deal on.

It really depends on what went wrong.

Chances are if you are needing a rebuild its going to cost you more than 200-300 dollars.

Machine work generally is not cheap. Plus you never know what else could have gone bad after the intial failure.

You might be better off getting a remanufactured engine. They cost between $1500-2000+. And they come with a guarantee.

For a standard 4" bore? I think I paid sub-$100 for rings for a SBC, unless LT1's take completely different rings.

Oh, that sounds about right then.

$2000 for a GOOD rebuild sounds right as well, but assuming nothing major is wrong a $500 rebuild would get you going again. But if nothing major is wrong, why rebuild it?
