LT1 Engine Identification?

I've got either an LT1/LT4 engine that I cannot identify which year or model. I have no idea if it came out of a Camaro or a Corvette. What I do know is that it was pulled out of a wreck with less than 30,000 miles on it. It has been sitting for more than 7 years and it has a 6 speed behind it. Have not found the computer yet, just have the wiring harness, which appears to be all intact.

Here is the code on the passanger-front of the block:

V0623WTA

On the Passanger-rear of the block I found this:

10125327

On the Driver-rear of the block:

5.7LG
SGI
F174

Other than them stamps... "327" is casted into the block in various places.

Besides the code stamps, is there any physical characteristics such as sensor locations or deletions? I can't seem to locate a MAF plug, but I'm not 100% sure where in the main harness it feeds from.

Any Help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

Those numbers aren't very helpful. You need to take the number off the driver side of the block in the back right above the oil filter.

Be more precise on the location. How many digits?

The "5.7LG" and such stamps is on the driverside of the block above the oil filter.. on the top side of the Bellhousing mount.

Vettes used a Getrag M6, Fbodys use the Borg Warner. Look for some ID on the tranny. Also, Vettes have the alternator mounted on the driver side, not the passenger side.

Didn't the LT4's come with a different intake manifold that was painted red? They should also have 1.6 roller rockers, so pop off a valve cover and you'll know.

LT4 Always had a red Intake Manifold, and different valve covers as far as I know?

Here is the # hand engraved on the side of the bellhousing flange... above the oil filter as noted on that Linky .

1R2217240

The engine has a factory oil cooler, non-red intake, and the alternator is on the Passanger side

Sounds like you have a '94 LT1 from an F-body, just like mine.

Ok... how did you determine that from that # ? I have a suffix code book, but it didn't list the "WTA" that is stamped on the front of this block. I would love to have the formula for this hand engraved #.

Ok... GREAT... mighty glad I don't have a '93.

Next question... where is the MAF plug? and how many wires should it have? Three? or Five like my 3rd gen?

The R signifies '94, the plain manifold signifies LT1m and alt location signifies F-body.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

Its not a Lt4 - get over it.

Um... I kinda figured it wasn't LT4. Not my concern anyways.. I needed to know year.

And I don't have a VIN to give to GM. I bought the engine/tranny as is, which has been sitting on a tire for over 7 years.

Other than that...

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. Especially madwolf. Don't know how you got the VIN... but that'll be SUPER when I go to the dealership to order new parts. Thanks again!!
