You will need to bore it .30 over. And there will be clearence issues. I think if I were you I would just go ahead and scrap the block you have. Then buy a 4 bolt main 396 shortblock; it will be stronger than the 2 bolt main block you have.
Ok I really hate to say it, and a lot of people are not going to like me saying this.. But horsepower is technically a calculation of your torque based on RPM.
You can sorta think of horsepower as the rate at which you make power, and torque as the actual power made.
Before you call me crazy, please read up.. Torque vs. Horsepower
But yeah I always focus on the torque aspect, top end torque can be killer and it all depends on how well your heads flow.. Advanced Induction or AFR are probably the best bolt on heads you can get.
