LT1 editing - egr and air pump ?s...

I have a 94Z (96K miles) with just the usual bolt-ons and stock exhaust manifolds, I have gotten a code 32 (EGR) twice now. The car had been running rich but just a few hundred miles ago I replaced both o2s and had been doing better until now. It smells rich again.

I was told I could clean it (egr) if it was holding vaccum , which it seamed to be.

Now a month later, the SES light came back on again.

Here's my question.
1. I know a guy that has lt1 edit and if I get him to use his laptop with LT1 edit to romove the egr and air pump from my computer, do you accually have to remove these two items from the car?

2. If so, I can get an egr block off plate, but what do you do about the air pump ?

3. Also, Do I put a plate on the passenger manifold and where the tube bolts to the intake manifiold as well as where the egr "itself" bolts up to the intake ?

The only other option is to pay a well known dyno-tuner $300 to remove these 2 items from my program and tune the car at the same time. The only thing is the guy with LT1 edit will not charge much, if anything.

Note:
About a year or so ago I replaced these :
plugs and wires and coil

A few hundred miles ago (when running rich "smell" ) I replaced these:
fuel filter and both o2s with GM/Ac-delco

John,

When you program out AIR and EGR you don't have to remove the egr valve or the air pump. Programming the EGR out just causes the EGR solenoid (located on the back driver side of the intake, kinda squareish) not to allow vaccum to open the EGR valve (located on the back of the intake).

When i go with "race" LT's i'm just going to put a plate on the tube that runs from the exhaust manifold to the intake. It's football shaped. I'm leaving the EGR valve in place because removing it is not necessary for function, only cosmetic (minute cosmetic).

The AIR pump connects to the top of the exhaust manifolds. I'm sure you've seen the Black diverter valves with the tubes attached to them.

When we did Jason Spruill's headers we took off his AIR pump and I plugged the back of the intake with a small football shaped plate.

Hope this helps.

If your friend has the high $$$ "unlimited" version of LT1_Edit, he can do your PCM. But if its the standard version, its locked to his VIN.

I guess he knows wheather or not he can do other cars but I'll run it by him and see.
If I have to pay to get it tuned, at least I can save the $ on buying a new egr valve, huh ?
$300 tune will end up being like $225 or so with that money saved.

Egr removal ain't worth the hassel nor is the air pump, IMO !

Thanks guys.
