Speak with LLoyd Elliott about your stock ones. For about the same price he can get better flow numbers with better springs as well. Or Go with Trick Flow's new LT1 heads.

The Trick Flows will drop compression about .4 that is why they recommend them for strokers or power adders and do not market them as a replacement for stock on a stock bottom end.

When reading Edelbrocks "gains" info consider they likely tested against bone stock tuning with the early heads(least flow) then did a dyno tune, with the new heads, added their cam and if you read the fine print 1 3/4 headers( was the Vette motor on manifolds??????, how would it do with those headers?). So when reading their claims of 70hp take all that into account, even if they did tune the motor and used later better flowing heads the header swap would signifigantly change the motors power and range. Not saying they are bad just do not buy into their marketting. I have yet to see any objective reports on these, a couple of b-body guys used them and raved about them but made other signifigant changes at the same time so it was silly to attribute the gains to the heads, it would have only been right to say that they loved the new combo. One of them swapped cams at the same time and the one he put in a was 17 degrees bigger on the intake side and 26 drgrees bigger on the exhaust as well as a good bit more lift, yet he was trying to say the heads were awesome, that cam alone would have made a big change, watch out for this type of stuff when doing your research. We also had someone pop up on the board that was just raving about the heads but never claimed to have actually used them a quick look at his recent post revealed that every post he made on the board was about those, seemed pretty obvious he was an Edelbrock employee.

The thing is most people will swap heads after they do a cam. I don't see very many people swaping heads and cam.

They will greatly imporve your power over your stock heads. They will have better low end compared to a fully ported LT1 head bcuz of the smaller intake port. Though, the work offered by Llyod makes justifying these heads hard.

I had a set and traded them off for some parts, eventually they ended up on my roomies caprice. He had a ZZ4 cam modified for the opti and installed it all on a fresh rebuild..

he was dynoed at 287hp and 340 tq through an auto.. with stock manifolds and 1.5 rockers since after building the engine he was out of $..

with 1.6s and headers I figure he would of picked up to 315 on the hp side.. with a bigger cam a bit more..

The money would be better spent on have Lloyd or another reputable porter do your heads..

Amen to that. Much better return on the $ and effort.

well thanks alot for the input guys... right now i am getting them matched to an LT4 intake manifold in a machine shop ... also i gave the machine shop my BBK shorty headers/ BBK 58 mm throttlebody so that they would match everything to my setup... can anyone tell me what should i be expecting from this setup?

LT4 intake manifold
Edelbrock LT1 heads
CompCam Cam (sorry dun have part # the papers in the car :P )
1.5 Rockers ( the GOLD colored ones )
BBK 58mm TB
BBK Shorties for LT1
3.73 gears
2500 stall

.... my old setup was stock LT1 manifold/heads/TB/headers ..

what do you guys think of this ? .. in terms of HP gains blablablabla .... thanks in advance

Why the LT4 intake? It is for LT4 heads, sure it can be made to work with other stuff but that does not mean you should. It was made to match the LT4 heads not necessarily to flow more, it is not an upgrade for an LT1.

Going to need to know what cam it is for anyone to take a stab at power numbers, even just the duration numbers off the top of you head would help.

If indeed you went with comp's 306 cam with Edelbrock heads you will be sorry In order to get full potential out of the setup I suggest you get those heads ported more or else that cam will seem like stock.. And you will have to change the springs out as well because the ones that come with those heads cannot handle the .540 lift of the cam.

Blackbird ur setup is very close to mine .. looking forward to know your dyno results

also gryg the heads are getting ported/matched to an LT4 intake right now in the machine shop... and about the head springs i am not really sure if the guys would change it .. they do know what their doing so i am guessing they would change whats nessecary to get the heads performing at their best.

i am checking with them tomorrow on monday to see their progress on the porting job

i really cant wait to see how well the car will perform !!1111111111
