LT1 differences between the years

hi guys
a friend of mine has a 93 TA. He had a guy rebuild it that was also building an LT1 from a 95-97 Fbody (cant remember exactly)
anyways, the other motor was already built and the owner never paid for it, so the engine builder gave the newer motor to my friend. (and the 93 LT1 went to the other guy, when the SOB finally paid up)
so heres the problem. We have no idea what all the little differences are between the years.
The motor/tranny are already back in the car, we are just putting all the wiring and accessories back together now.
Seems quite a few things are missing, or there that wasnt on the old motor.

So does anyone have ANYTHING they can tell me, or have any links that may help?
Optispark differences will help also....like using a newer unit with an older car.

thanks in advance
jason

Not sure that you're gona pick up on the 2 major differences from that article you need to worry about.

First the 95 engine is different from the 96 and up and especially the 93.
You may have already noticed the new one has a Mass Airflow Sensor and the old one did not. Don't think you have a plug for that in the old harness. If you wanted to use the MAF, you would need the computer from a newer vehicle. You would probably need the harnesses as well.

If you have the engine from 96 and up, you probably don't have the connector for the crankshaft sensor, CPS.

One last small detail is the Opti, the new one is vented. You will have to plum the vacuum lines to it with a restrictor. Find an engine at a junkyard and grab the hoses and restrictor.

You cold probably hook the new engine up like the old one and remove the MAF. You will need the old intake piping for that if you don't have a CAI. If the new engine has a CPS, you could leave it disconnected.

I'm sure if I left something out, someone will jump my I mean jump in. LOL

thanks for the replies so far guys

but the newer engine he got was just the Longblock (shortblock, heads, intake, timing cover with newer cam [lt4 hotcam], etc)
I just bid on the vented Vacuum tubes on ebay. Its just the lines and thats it, so I'm guessing I need more than that to convert it to make it work, right?

if you guys can think of anything else, please do post

thanks!
