If you want a 97 f-body, then find a v-6 one and do the conversion on it from your car. The insurance will be cheaper as they insure it by Vin. It would come up as a V-6 but you would have a V-8.

That reminds me of a friend who did the same thing. Someone smashed into him and when the insuance guy came to look at his "v6" he was very very suprised.

Thanks for all the help guys. My brother told me to give him 3 months and he is going to buy me a 97, and then i will just "convert" all of my mods off of the old engine and put them on the new one. Then i am going to take the set of heads off the old engine, and send them off to get ported, sell the baby hotcam and go with a cc306. So in the end, i will end up in a newer, faster car. Just have to wait a couple of months pimping the 5spd 4 cyl. S-10 baby yeah!!!!!! I am thinking about putting the SS wheels on the S-10 if i have to drive it for 3 months....................i just hope i dont burn to much rubber off the rears.............. Anyways, tell me if what i plan on doing sounds good or if you guys have any other suggestions.?

I would think you could find a newer C4 pretty cheap, just cause there are so many C5's out there. I was thinking of the V-6 conversion as well, but isn't the suspension different? Probably good for straight line, but would suck to turn. If it's not your daily driver, do something wild like a *****'s or something. a 1st/2nd gen would be cool too. If you drive it every day that would suck. Try driving a big block Can Am in Houston with no A/C!

Well, long story short, my brother was driving my car and he totalled it. The engine, and tranny are fine. It is totalled because of bodywork. The insurance company would only give me 6,000 for it but i have put so much into it i cant bear to let it go for that. So heres what im thinking. I take the engine out and put it in another 4th gen or maybe a 1st gen? What do yall think? The engine runs great. Its only got 68,000 miles on it and its got a hotcam kit in it so its worth saving. Maybe i could find a really high miles LT1 and swap the motor out?? Tell me what you think you guys, i am really upset and i want to get back behind the wheel of a hotrod as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

Chris
He has a totalled Z28 so he could do the conversion and has a perfect donor car for everything including suspension.

My last 94Z was totaled about a year ago with blown 355, I just found another 94 high mileage Z with good body for $4000, I transferred all my suspension, gauges etc. to the new one and stroked my old motor to a 385 while I had it out and dropped it in the new one with my old Vortech s-Trim. I also had an extra LT1 and M6 which I sold to help pay for the new one.

Yeah thats what i was thinkin. Maybe i should do like heads cam or something to the old engine before i put it in whatever it is i am going to put it in.........................either way i have a lot of choices to make. I will look for a 97 f bod or a C4. whichever one if find first. Luck of the find i guess.
