LT1 chokes before hitting red line????

I drive a 94 z28 6-speed. I used to be able to put the pedal to the medal all the way to 5800 rpm but recently the LT1 feels like it chokes before even hitting the red line. any thoughts?

our tachs really suck and sometimes you may be hitting your rev limiter even though you might not show it on ur tachnometer. thats my guess, might be soemthing more technical though hope i helped

Cool

Might replace the coil wire if it has not been changed in the past 6 months or so.(do the cheap stuff first).My02(Just use a gm replacement even if you are running after market wires.My02)

Bad plugs could cause this too, so it might be time for them (along with new wires)

I had just one bad plug and found a pretty steep power drop right before the redline.

I had the same problem you did after I rebuilt my lt1. I was blowing out the spark, I put in a msd 6AL and that cured my problem

Any other troubles? Hard starting, stumbles, etc.

Mine would fall on it's face as you describe, and it turned out to be my fuel pump was going south.

as far as hard starting, it starts fine except when I fill up with gas. then it takes about 3 seconds for the engine to start. weird huh??????? I have about 110k miles on the Z and have never changed the plugs, wires, ignition. I believe I had a new fuel pump installed last spring bc it was making a high squiling noise. I am going to set my computer back to "stock" (i got the hpIII) and see if this helps.

Time for a tuneup! Plugs, wires, fuel filter. See if that fixes it, because it needs to be done anyway.
