You can get carb intakes for the lt1. You could get the intake, a carb, and a distributor, figure out the may other meany details and be ready to go.

I don't know about fitting a distributor under that cowl/firewall though.

It's a chevy small block, there are a countless distributors for it! You need to make sure that you get one that will work with a roller cam. That is the only advice I can give you on that. I think roller cams are harder than the older style and require a harder distibutor gear.

If the distributor says it fits SBCs from 87 up, I would think it should work.

I've been considering the same thing. I've been told there is a part (#12367600) which is a plug for the timing cover where the opti drive it...

There is a GMPP adapter to make the opti run sparks. You will not get the throttle response from a carb that you will with MPFI. The GMPP also sells the carb intake but it has the hole in the rear for cam driven distributor. I guess you could plug the hole somehow or cover it up with a metal plate and bolt it in the distributor hold down clamp threaded hole. May I ask, why a carb? Get a bigger throttle body, injectors and pcmforless chip, etc..
Either will be appx $700-up.

Re: lt1 to carburator

If your z is a 93, don't get the opti cover. IT WILL NOT FIT! I wasted $60 to find that out. I am using MSD for my ignition. I don't have it all hooked up, but I was told I could take an ignition lead and run it to my box, which of course will tie in the the distributor and the coil. I got a new pro-billet distributor that MSD offers with a crap style cap to help clearance issues that I was afraid I might come across when I do the swap. I am not to that point yet of installing the ignition yet. I am disassembling mine at the moment. With working 2 jobs time isn't readily available. I hope to have it running in a couple more weeks.

I hope it will all be worth it!
