LT1 cai qustion.

i've been through a few CAI and have never been happy with the way they fit or perform.

The G2 Cai, AS&M CAI, and a K&N CAI.

i have decided to pretty much order the SLP CAI, but after looking on ebay at their ghetto CAI kits for LT1's i've noticed that their is not much of a difference between those cheapies and the other one, basicall it is a tube that leads from your maf, to a air filter.

so does it really matter, is there something about the SLP CAI or the others that make them work better.

I have Moroso and have had no problems with fit or performance. As far as those ones on ebay I dont think they go as low into the fender area as SLP, Moroso, and K&N. So they are getting hotter air temps from the engine bay.

What problems have you had with the other cold air intakes?

I've had my K&N for almost two years and it's been great.

The SLP intakes go way down behind the front bumper. The unk on E-bay is like maybe a foot long tube.

How good can a CAI be when it is pulling in hot air from the engine bay? The SLP intake was very good in my experience. It is not the same as the junk on E-bay.

Re: LT1 cai qustion.

I have owned an SLP unit and a junkie ebay one. LOL, the ebay works fine, but if you want quality fit and finish, and excellent performance defenately nothing will beat the SLP unit.

Re: LT1 cai qustion.

The K&N cai just did not fit right at all, and the AS&M the rubber piece got piched by the radiator support.

and the G2 was just a larger version of the stock air box.....it was a gift i did not buy it.

but im going to check into the lingenfelter CAI and since the SLP got such good reviews here that is a possibility.

i've seen most of the ebay ones go down into the fender well and they run about $70.00 i just wanted to know before i dropped $200 on another CAI.

thanks guys

My SLP fit like a glove and hasn't given me any problems mechanically and has been great on performance. No complaints from me on it.

Re: LT1 cai qustion.

I have the GM performance CAI -to make a long story short, originally SLP made these for GM performance they are still available and it fits great! It fits down where the original filter goes, has a cover to keep the engine heat away from the K&N like filters, 2 small ones-application specific. I was very skepital about an after market filter making any difference in performance but was pleasantly supprised by the increase in engine RPM and seat of the pants performance! 93ZTed

Re: LT1 cai qustion.

lets just face it, you arent going to get 45 hp from a CAI...you will be able to tell a slight difference, and it will improve your Gas Milage...i have had both the K&N, and the SLP...i currently have the SLP, and i dont plan on changing...it fits perfect, and is really low in the fender...the K&N is plastic and cracks...just get the SLP or Lingefelter...good luck with your selection
