lt1 Buick no start
lt1 Buick no start
Hey folks, Need insite.
LT1 buick estate wagon, 1995, OBD1. Stock
Been Damp around here.
Not firing, it's cranking, got spark out of coil, and at the plugs.
Got 44 psi of fuel on fuel rail, holding pressure, can smell fuel.
Can hear the engine pull air in, tried starting it with throttle open, closed, cracked. no fault codes, tried with maf disconnected, swapped in spare Map sensor and spare computer.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Squirt some fuel directly in the intake while cranking it. Did you actually scan it for codes? If you're merely looking for the SES, there are codes that set but DON'T light the SES. One of them shuts off the injectors.

When i was trouble shooting the car i scanned for codes, none found.
The cap and rotor are old as dirt.
It was a wopping 55 degrees here in Minnesota, Had the hood open for a few hours, and suddenly it started!
I know the injectors were working you could smell the gas. It was most likley a ignition gremlin-moisture-Issue.
I wish it would have stayed broken in regards to trouble shooting but oh well.
Its probably the opti, just funny that in the past with other LT1's ive worked on you get codes for the opti on the scanner. If a couple of wires or plugs are bad it would al least buck of misfire.
Its just hard to understand, Had fire to the plugs, fuel to the engine, and air.
but it dried out and now were in action. Time for new opti, wires, and plugs.

I agree, even though no codes, and spark is there with fuel, You have a good point. Maintenance is one of the first things to consider when a problem develops. You can't always count on a code to appear. Moisture and electronics=WTF
So like i said, time for a new opti (might as well replace the whole unit) along with plugs and wires.
This car will be moving to the back of the garage to rest, while the nice weather is here, time to give my other cars a chance to disturb the neighbors

A worn cap and rotor wont code. It will only code if the optical pickup has a problem.
A no-start in damp conditions is usually a severely worn cap and rotor or really bad plug wires.
