Lt1 bored 383 and 383 stroker horsepower ?

I'm wondering if anyone would know by a guess of what the horsepower would be on a bored out lt1 350 to a 383 with all stock components besides the pistons and what a 383 stroker would be with all stock components besides the rotating assembly would be.

Whaaaa? You can't bore a 350 to a 383. And you can't achieve 383 cubic inches without boring the block .030 over WITH a 383 rotating assembly as far as I know

383 will add about 5-7hp to your build, the biggest change is in the torque curve, it moves it up so you have better launches at the drag strip.

The first one you mentioned is not a 383 but a 355.

Heads and cam are where you make power in an engine. The difference in the bottom ends would be negligible.

I didn't think a 350 could be bored to a 383 and have any cylinder walls left. How about the average HP of a 383 and a stroked 383?

I doubt you're going to find anyone who has built a small block with a 4.185" bore and a 3.48" stroke crank to tell you the difference. Not saying it can't be done but most people aren't going to shell out the cash for an aftermarket block to use such a small crank.

Displacement isn't as important as what's on top of the motor (for 98% of us). The biggest, baddest engine in the world isn't going to be very impressive if the heads and cam aren't up to snuff. On the flip side if you throw a great (great does not mean huge or expensive) heads/cam setup on even a modest sized engine it will still run pretty well.

What HP level are you looking for? You can make 500HP at the flywheel with a stock 350 bottom end and a set of very well ported LT1 heads, a matching cam, and other upgrades like CAI, LT headers, larger injectors, larger throttle body and a good tune.

A 383 can make the same HP with a cam that will probably be a bit more street friendly than the cam required to make that HP level with a 350.

As mentioned.....going from a 350ci to a bored AND stroked 383 will only net you a handful of HP if the heads and cam are stock.

Also, as mentioned, horse-power is made more-so with the heads and cam than with displacement; and more compression is a VERY important element when going with a bigger (more agressive) cam.

NOTE: more stroke and higher compression should increase torque pretty significantly .

350ci = 3.48" stroke and 4.000" bore.

383ci = 3.75" stroke and 4.030" bore.

To go with a 383ci, at the very least, you'll need 4.030" pistons and a 3.75" crank. You could keep the stock rods (I wouldn't) if your pistons are spec'ed for 5.7" rods. But I'd get pistons spec'ed for the 6" rods that I'd be using .

There are also a few companies which offer a crank with a 3.8" stroke to achieve 383 cid with a stock 4.00" bore. GM's crate 383s use them.

Yes.

Requires different pistons from stock.

Anytime you change the stroke of the crank you're going to need a different piston.
