no you dont. not without some serious work. to my knowledge the bolt pattern is different between the lt1 and the lt4 and i know for sure the intake ports wont line up correctly.

you put a stock bottom end S/C lt1 into a ditch and now you want 600+rwhp? i think you should rebuild it stock and learn to drive it first but thats my opinion.

also to my knowledge it shouldnt be anymore to bore and clearence a 2 bolt main than it would be a 4 bolt. thats all the machine shop would be doing. they bore it .030" over the stock bore and then clearence for the bigger crank. maybe they figured in to splay the main caps, in which case i would do that. do a splayed 2 bolt main 383 because it will be stonger than teh 4 bolt main.

sorry to hear about the accident. i know thats gotta suck. 600rwhp would be insane. and thats quite the goal to achieve there. how about your drivetrain? what kind of shape is it in and what all modifications do you have made to it? with that much horsepower, your gonna want to ditch the stock rearend. i would also get in the market for an aftermarket (and much stronger) driveshaft as well. youll probably need a better performance tranny and clutch. i know you said you would pay to do that stuff later. just make sure your looking at the whole picture when your building a project like this. when your building your block (keep in mind this is personal advice, i am not a mechanic of any kind), i would consider gettting the splayed caps and customise the internals to fit around my needs. get a good crank for this kinda power. as far as pistons go, your gonna need to figure out how much boost your going to use to get you to make the power you want. that way you can start figuring out what CR your going to want to run. an engine with this much power is going to take some serious planning. i dont think there will be any slapping parts together and crossing your fingers for luck. and dont just concentrate on the engine itself. theres a lot of other parts that work together in a car. theres no way in hell i would put a 600hp motor into a car with stock suspension. actually, i'd probably throw away all stock parts and start from scratch. thats what ive been doing with my car and i'm not putting out near the power you want to. anyways, good luck.

For 87camracer you have no idea about my driving. I got caught in some snow right at the end of fall last year. I was driving home behind two other cars when one lost it and for me miss them I had to hit the ditch. I also have a 500 Rwhp V6 Turbo T (that’s the same as a Grand National if you didn’t know). I have driven that one for two summers and never crashed that one. And yes the #s have been proven on the dyno. I DO have a lt4 intake on my motor, I have pictures but I don’t think I can post them on this page.

Silverbullet, I do have the drive train beefed up. I have a Spec steel flywheel with the stage 3 clutch, 900 hp aluminum drive shaft that goes to my Moser 12 bolt. I have sub frame connectors with after market LCA, Pan hard and a spon torque arm in the mail.

i got to thinkin about weather after i posted that. its all good tho. www.webshots.com for the photos cuz i would like to see this. i know in the 3rd gen world people use both intakes. the lt1 is for standard style heads and the lt4 is used for vortec style heads with different intake ports and most of the time a different bolt pattern. i would like to see the two matched up.

Not correct. The bolt pattern is identical on the LT1 and LT4 fuel injection intakes. The only thing that keeps them from being interchangeable is the fact that the LT4 intake has more metal on the top of the ports, and interferes with the valve cover rail on the LT1 heads. The LT4 head has a taller valve cover rail. If you machine either the LT4 intake, or the LT1 heads, the intake will bolt right on. Identical in all other respects.

But it won't gain you anything by bolting it on LT1 heads.

And... there isn't even a port match problem. While the LT4 heads had the 0.100" raised runner intake ports, the LT4 intake does not. It has a port identical to the LT1 port, and the LT4 intake requires a lot of port work to support well-ported LT4 heads. The extra metal is there, but it appears that GM ran out of money on the LT4 development program, and "compromised" the LT4 intake design by leaving most of it unchanged from the LT1 intake.

Will there be a power difference in porting LT4 heads compared to LT1? Can there be bigger ports for the LT4? What about making it a 383 stroker?
