LT1 block filled hotter or not

Like the title says. I still drive the car on the street. Right now my temp stays right around 190 crusing. Im curious to see what temp differences people notices after they 1/4 filled their block.

It will make no difference in water temp. The oil will be hotter, which is a good thing to a point. And unless you go for LOOONG periods of WOT will not be a problem.

With turbo cars one problem we do have is oil temps. Just crusing around on a warm day mine get to about 210 which is not that big of a deal. But do you know how much hotter they might get?

Rich you say 1/2 fill the block. Is that just below the freeze plugs? Also why do you say 1/2 fill?

ive got a 383 lt4 trans am that has the block filled to just below the freeze plugs to get ready for twin turbos and my car never gets much above 180. i run distilled water and use 2 bottles of water wetter with a 160 thermostatand have no probs at all with temp.

anyone log oil temps before and after?

What is the process for filling a block. Do you just have to remove one freeze plug or do they all need to come out?

thanks for the replys

my block was filled while i had the motor out to be bored and stroked. the machine shop i took it too cut the block too much for rod bolt clearance so they had to fill it. i believe they took out all the freeze plugs and filled it. after they fill it i ran some ceramaseal through it to coat the filler so antifreeze wouldnt bother it if i ever decided too.

It is poured in through the coolant passages in the deck surface.
