LT1 AC delect pulley. Having a few problems with it.

OK, a couple problems here.
First, the delete pulley is threaded and so is the block.
Secondley, the pulley don't line up with the other pulleys. The space is about 6.25mm closer to the block using the AC delete pulley.

For the threads, I could just drill them out. For the other part I could just put a spacer in. Is it normal to have these problems or did they give me the wrong one?

AC delete pulley 30.72mm from base to beginning of pulley.

AC pully 37.01mm from base to beginning of pulley.

Threaded vs non-threaded stock

Is this a GM pulley?

I had to use washers to make mine line up with the other accesories.

Did yours have threads?

I don't believe the GM pulleys have those kinds of problems. Pulley bearing failures are another frequent happening on the non-GM units.

You need a little confidence booster from someone who has "gone before you" with this modification.

If you bought the Dorman P/N 34209 A/C Delete kit, (like I got from my local Advance Auto Parts), then yes, you have to BOTH drill out the threads in the Dorman unit AND use spacer washers to better align the pulley. I did this mod to my car about 10/11 months ago and I can't honestly remember if I ended up using two (2) or three (3) or even four (4) 1/8" washers as "spacers" on each of those three (3) attachment bolts?

As Shoebox hinted above, I don't think the GM OEM kits suffered from these problems, but the Dorman P/N 34209 kit CERTAINLY does!

Thank you! I just wanted to make sure I didn't get the wrong one. If I had known of the issues with this one, I probley would have went with the other one. I went ahead and drilled it out with a 10mm bit earlier today. Now I just have to find something to space it out. I know I need about 6.25mm, so I'm just going to take my caliper with me to the store and find either a spacer or washers that add up to what I need or close as I can get.

The pulley apears to be the same diameter. So, I should have no issues with the belt size. You still used the stock belt size, correct?

Yes indeed, as far as I could tell when I did my install, the pulleys are the exact same size. I DEFINITELY used my same belt with NO problems whatsoever!

Re: LT1 AC delect pulley. Having a few problems with it.

I went and got 9 7/16 washers. Each washer had a different thickness. I found 3 sets of 3 that were the thickness I needed. I got my pulley mounted and the belt on and it lines up. Thanks for the help.

Yep, this sounds exactly like what I did to get my A/C delete pulley to align with the others. Glad to hear everything worked out!

Re: LT1 AC delect pulley. Having a few problems with it.

gonna dig this up for a question. Ive got this pulley as well and was playing around with it today, same issue with the threads, i'll need to drill them out. But my kit came with a few washers for the bolts, and a single washer for the main pulley. instead of using washers on each bolt, it just pushes out the pulley a little farther.

did your pulleys not come with the hardware?? ill post a pic later of the stuff that came with mine, ordered mine from amazon last year

In my case ........ most definitely ...... no. I did NOT get any hardware with mine.
