LT1 in a 3rd gen problems
LT1 in a 3rd gen problems
Got the LT1 in the car and having some issues, here is what the car is doing. Fires but only on a few cylinders, mainly #2 and #6 headers are getting really hot really fast and the rest don't seem to be making any heat. Engine sounds like it could honestly be running on 2 cylinders it runs so poorly. We have tested injectors and spark and it is present in every cylinder. Now for a few questions.
1) Is there a way to and is it neccissary to set base timing on LT1?
2) Is it possible to have the opti in 180 degrees out?
3)I am using an OBD2 opti but an OBD1 engine harness and ECU, I am told this should work, is this true?

Re: LT1 in a 3rd gen problems
Sure it could be installed wrong. Read about it all the time here. Why don't you do this. Put one of the back cylinders at TDC. Say number 7. Now pull off the cap from the Opti and see if the rotor is facing the location of the contact inside the cap for the number 7 cylinder. By doing this you will answer several questions including whether you put it on right.
Re: LT1 in a 3rd gen problems
it was removed, checked and reinstalled, its for sure in the correct position, still same problems. gonna get another opti on it that we know works and try that.....
