either tranny should work in the 3rd gen...the swap requires a few modifications but should all be available aftermarket...but take it as a blessing if u dont get the 4l60e ull just blow it up like the 10 bolts pos's we have once u put some decent power to her

and there are a number of people who have done the swap...ive seen a few pics of some gorgeous irocs with lt1 and ls1 swaps...

orangeiroc on here is in the process of the swap but with the t-56

Check out thirdgen.org in the motor swap section. This swap is pretty straight forward if you know what you are doing. Yes you can use the 4L60-E. Just use the computer that can with the motor, since that is what controls the shifts. ANy other questions let me know.

i have a question for you guys that have done this swap, in the 3rd gens with a 700r4, dont they have a mechanical speedo drive where the 4l60e is electronic? if this is the case, how did you go about hooking up the speedometer?

My best friend (89LT1Formula) did this swap. Theres a few wiring you gotta do for the pcm and other stuff. If you have any questions I would recommend you ask him
