My vote goes for the 383

More Torque than a 355 to move your 4,000# car and Cheaper than a 396 (usually..depending on your needs)

no i would probably get a used 350 LT1 out of some camaro or something but that 383 sounds alot more cost affective on my budget only if maryland did not have these ****ty emission law's i could get a 454
needacar when are you working? this week
is the Z28 on the lot at criswell because i might have seen it?

another question do you have to use a 4L60E with a LT1 or can i use my TH700R4 with the LT1?

Not to sure about Caprices', but my 93 has the TH700R4(4L6O)
I belive it is just the non-electric version.

as many people will have you to believe the 4L60 is not exactly the same as a TH700R4 some parts are alittle different i cant remember what tho
but if your 4L60 can work probably my TH700r4 can work too

Don't quote me but I think the cases are different. The inside stuff is the same. Or maybe vise-versa? :?
