lt1 383?

I have a stock LT1 engine from a '93 camaro z28, but it needs a rebuild (Broken connection rods, or so i'm told; haven't had a chance to tear it down yet). So I was wondering if it would be better to rebuild it stock or make it a 383. From what I heard its to make it a 383 I would just have to buy new rods and crank out of a 400 small block and to bore my block 30 over.

lol yea if your building a Gen 1 motor with a Gen 2 lt1 you just need a 3.75 crank and 30 over.

Before you can determine what to do, you have to assess the damage. A broken connecting rod ("rods"???) can do major damage, rendering the block unusable.

You wouldn't use the crank and rods out of an SBC 400. You buy a one-piece rear main seal crank with a 3.75" stroke, and a set of rods - either 5.75", 5.85" or 6.00" (but not the 400's 5.565") - and a set of 4.030" pistons with the correct compression height to go with your rod length and the block's deck height, usually a bit over 9.00".
