The 327 on the block tells you its a 350 ci lt1 and not a 265 ci like what would be in a caprice, or a kingswood wagon.

A 327 is a destroked 350 from the oldschool era, mid to late 60's. 3.25" stroke for the 327 vs 3.48" for the 350. Bores and blocks are the same.

327's are in some newer vehicles too. I think my buddy's dad has a truck with a 327.

The 350 LT1 and LT4 (4 bolt mains) have the casting number 10125327. The 327 on the block is the last 3 digits of the casting number.

The 265 block has the casting number 10168588. The is a "4.3" casting mark on that block. Go figure.

There has not been a "327" made in a long time.

No, not really. The 327 preceeded the 350, so it would be more correct to say that the 350 is a stroked 327. Also, the 350's use different bearing sizes The main journal diameter was increased to 2.45" from 2.30" and the rod journal diameter was increased to 2.10" from 2.00". The 327 is thus called a "small journal" and the 350 a "large journal" engine.

No, the block casting numbers are the same regardless of whether 2 or 4 bolt mains were installed. The part number differs, but that does not appear on the block. All blocks installed in F-bodies except the rare LT4 F-bodies (100 produced) has 2-bolt mains. The Corvettes got the 4-bolts as did some (?all) of the replacement engines.
