LT Headers in, Dipstick / oil problems

Just finished installing hooker headers, and the dipstick got screwed taking it out, and we figured I could make it about 25 minute drive back home without it. So we took it for a test drive and sure enough oil splashed everywhere without the dipstick tube in.

Just wondering if this is definitely what should have happenned or if something else might have happenned due to the install (raising the engine up , etc. etc.??).

Hopefully this is normal, we just figured it wouldn't splash out as much as it did. ALSO, I had my starter rebuilt, and after 3 starts last night it burnt out (is what i'm told after bringing it in), could this have had anything to do with the oil coming out (burning it?) ?

Yea, it did what it should have done. Also, the starter silenoid can be a touchly little devil. Oil splashing on it is more than likely an affect of the burning out of the silenoid.

I had to cut off half of my dipstick to get it back in. I'm sure the oil in the starter didn't help any. Very well could have been the reason it crapped out on you.

thanks, that's a little relief off my back, just been a bitch altogether when the screw holding in the solenoid broke off 'cause it was rusted, and our makeshift starter-ground didn't work at midnight on a Sunday (after finishing everythign else)
