LT Header Install - Motor Mounts

Ok, I am installing Pacesetter 96-97 LT in my 94 Z28.

I removed valve covers, steering knuckle, plugs, coolant sensor, starter and the old headers.

There is no way these new things are fitting without something moving.

I have heard raising the motor is a good way to make some room, one side at a time. My question is, what do I need to loosen to do this. It can't be as simple as just the motor mount, this is an LT1 after all.

Any Assistance Appreciated.

It's actually that simple. Remove the bolt that goes through the mount and with a piece of wood underneath the oil pan jack it up a bit. Do one side at a time. It can be a bit difficult to realign the bolt holes once both bolts are removed and the engine moved around. As your lifting look around to make sure your not stressing any wires or hoses.

Removing the oil filter also gave me a little extra room when putting the headers in.

are these the emissions headers? I installed Pacesetters on my '96 T/A and did not have to remove the starter, valve covers or even touch the motor mounts.

Pacesetters

They are the emissions headers...

Driver side is problematic right now, have not tried passenger side. Was thinking would jack up and get driver side in then move overe there...

mine were the NON-emissions version, that prbly why i had it so easy

Make sure u angle the headers almost vertical when u are trying to slip them up, car will have to be pretty high off of the ground to do this correctly

They go in easy if you have the car jacked up high as hell. Get the *** end up as high as you can. Put jack stands on their top notch just under the LCA's where they attach to the axle (just between the LCA bracket ends). Then jack the front of the car as high as you possibly can. The higher the better. Mine was about 2.5-3ft off the ground. Uninstall the starter. Now, get underneath and tilt the header almost vertical. It should slide right up. Might have to tilt it side to side to get it to slide right in. If it's not going in you might have to get the car higher. Have someone standing over the engine bay to grab onto the header and hold it while you get out from underneath and lower the vehicle. Do this for both sides. The key is to get the car as high as you can. Shouldn't take more then a couple mins finagling the headers in using this way. BTW, mine were non-emissions.
