it will help reduce "false" knock produced by headers, bigger cams, etc. when it senses knock it pulls timing thus reducing power. run a search and you will find multiple more informative responses. its runs $26-35 and you can get one from any gm parts supplier. the p/n is 16214681 i got mine off ebay for $35 shipped new. hope this helps.

The benefits are that the lt4 knock module is better than the stock one that you have for your lt1. If you install thing in your car like roller rockers and even headers then your stock module may pick up false knock coming from the engine. To compensate for the "knock" the computer will retard your timing...in most cases, not good. The lt4 module is better at filtering out false knock and only dealing with actual knock. So, if you do upgrades like roller rockers, headers, etc. then you will probably want to pick one up.

The only place that I've found you can get one is from a GM dealer. They haven't relesed them to be sold by the aftermarket stores yet. It will set you back about $60.

Hope this helps,

Jason

Do NOT under any circumstances pay $60, which is full dealer list price. There are links available here to discount GM parts dealers who will sell it for ~50% off + shipping

one thing to realize is that this module doesn't ADD horsepower! it only helps eliminate false knock which is causing the engien to run a less than obtimal performance. so you will only see a gain if you are getting false knock, which inturn causes kknock retard (pulled timing).

Fits 1994-1997. 1993 does not have a removable KM.

Be very careful about buying from gmpartsdirect.com. The prices of their parts may look like a really good bargain, but they will rape the HELL out of you on shipping!
