LT 1 sounds like metal aon metal

Hey every one I just got done changeing all the seals in the front cover of my LT 1, & replaceing the distributer cap with MSD. So anyway I replaced the front cover seals, The 2 o-rings on the water pump shaft, & the 2 o-rings on the distributer shaft. All was working good took for a drive did a couple of burn outs & the car started to die & wouldn't stay running. I saw some people have had problems with msd cap, so I pulled it back apart & checked it every thing looks good, I went ahead & blew the cap & distributer out & put it back togther. When I have the car running it sounds like a loud squealing noise of metal on metal, it started to do this or make this noise when the car started acting up originaly. At first I thought I had a pulley going out but I unhooked every thing belt driven & still makes the noise. If you set your hand on the intake you can feel it. I checked the oil & low & be hold looked like metal on the dipstick. So I pushed the car back in droped the oil out of it. It had quite a bit of metal shavings in it. Anyway has any body had this problem before sounds like a loud bearing squeal but no knocking noise like a bearing spun. Any help would be great

Dude, with respect please break this down into several scentences and use some kind of puncuation and you will get some replies. It looks like the LOP record has been shattered.
Rather than trying to educate him on his grammar how about some help?

Grammar aside you have some problems, how did your oil pressure look? You more than likely spun a bearing and the squealing that you are hearing is the bearing actually spinning. When you said that you did some burnouts were they brake stands or just getting on it from a roll? These cars don't like low load high revs. So if you just did a brake stand you more than likely spun a bearing and with all of the metal in your pan you deffinately have some serious problems.

Sorry to be the one to drop the bad news.

Good luck man and let us know what you figure out

Thanks I figured I had a bearing problem but, thought I would see if anyone had run into this problem with the gears up front or not. I have never heard a bearing squel just knock. Thanks for the help!!!! I didn't realize my grammar was being graded. I thought I was on a web site that people helped others. But I guess some have nothing better to do than complain about others

Metal shavings in the oil isn't good. Sounds like a bearing failure.

You know what's wrong with the car, your probably in denial about it. But that is the cost of speed sometimes.

I wasnt complaining, it is just easier to read in short paragraphs form, instead a blob of words together.... I personally got lost in the middle..

I am not grading you or complaining, I am stating that I could not follow and comprehend the text in your thread due to the bad grammer.

Your reply is perfectly acceptable and easy to understand. I wanted to point this out so you would make an adjustment to further your thread in order to resolve your problem. I have seen where many members will just simply pass over a thread like that for the reasons mentioned above. I am sure you would agree.

I have never heard a bad bearing that did not knock. Might want to think about an oil pump gear or timing set. If it were a bearing you are going to most likely have low oil pressure.

I have never heard it personally, but I know a few people that are mechanics that have heard it before. But t could be alot of things, but it would probably be easier to pull the motor and find out for sure. If you have metal in your oil like that you probably have a big problem and should really have the block hot tanked to get the metal out of it. And it would be 10000X easier to fix it outside of the car
