LT 1 Scanmaster Install

I purchased an LT1 Scanmaster off this board, read and followed the install directions x 5 or more, and I still don't get any data recordings. I used the recommended connector on the white(data) wire to connect in to the lower right hand port on the aldl (OBD1-1994 z28) and nothing happens. When I turn on/start the car the unit comes on, flashes some zeros like it's booting up, and the screen goes dark. When I'm driving still no data readings. I'm planning to splice into the tan wire on the back of the aldl, but am not optimistic this will help.
Is the a "power test" for these units? I'm thinking the data line from the scanmaster is bad. Would welcome ANY suggestions/help; this is SO frustrating!
Thanks!

That is typical of a bad data wire. When the unit is getting power but has no data signal it will blink on then off like that.

Not to ***** your thread, but where is a good place to mount one of these in a TA?

No problem!!

I have mine on the steering column, others have it mounted in the a/c vent on the right side. Not as familiar w/ TAs, but have read where they have been mounted on the column and under the dash cover in front of the speedo. Lots of expertise and experience on this Board w/ scanmasters. A search of this topic will reveal a goldmine of info. Hope this helps!

Brent,
Thanks for the input. I just need to find out how to test this unit.
Thanks!
