LT-1 or LS-1? What's the big diff.?
What are the big diff. btw. the lt-1 and the ls-1? How much faster does a stock ls-1 run in the 1/8 and 1/4 than the lt-1? What all does it take to hang with a ls-1 or to beat it? How much money would it take and what exactly would someone with an lt-1 need to do? Thanks guys!!!
better brakes, better engine design, more power, newer, more expensive.
Full exhaust, headers, catback, ypipe, and cold air are usually enough for an LT1 to edge out on an LS1... depends on auto vs 6 speed etc...

IIRC, Evan Smith also drove a bone stock 99 WS6 to a 12.8. That's pretty good for a Ford guy.
The LS1 is way different. The only thing that is really the same is the bore spacing, and I believe you can use the same rod bearings, but thats about it.
The LS1 has:
346 cubes (3.90"bore x 3.62" stroke)
18 degree heads from the factory that flow like a mother
Alum heads and block, composite intake manifold
1.7 rockers
I-E-I-E-I-E-I-E valve arrangement
Coil on plug ignition, no distriubutor
The LT1 has:
350 cubes (4.00"bore x 3.48" stroke)
23 degree heads from the factory (similar to the traditional style SBC heads, and well, so is the motor, for the most part)
Alum heads (Iron heads for B-body LT1s) and Iron block, Alum intake manifold
1.5 rockers (self aligning)
I-E-E-I-I-E-E-I valve arrangement
Front Mount distributor, camshaft driven
That's all i cant think about off the top of my head. Im sorry, I have a couple LT1 cars, but the LS1 is a far better motor. Worth the insane cost to hop up? Eh, maybe, but I think Id rather an LT1 or even a traditional SBC instead (if money wernt an object, gimme the LSx motor). JMO.

Im a dedicated LT1 driver i love it to death even though we (my motor car & I) have had our differences i would still trade my lt1 for an ls1 any day if the numbers arent enough to impress you drive one your *** dyno will tell you it is allot better. The only thing i think i would have a problem with one would be that they tend to bend pushrods pretty easily if you over rev them luckily i have yet to bend one in my lt1.
"Get to rompin on my LT1"
Nelly might still be popular if he would have sang this instead of airforce ones
