LS1 vs LT1 Steering Shaft.. PICS INSIDE

I wanna get rid of the POS steering shaft in my car since its already broken somehow and im getting play in the steering... Im wondering if the LT1 SHAFT is interchangeable with the LS1 SHAFT

In this post Shawn states that the LS1 shaft will bolt right in to a LT1, but the steering wheel will be 90' off.

Make sure yout steering shaft is not missing any of its bolts. It is bolted down with two. If you are missiong one, you will get play.

no the play that im getting is in the stupid round center piece.. It has like rubber or some crap in there... You can tell it's that when I wiggle it around and the parts inside the center piece move before the actual shaft does so I know that it's that for sure...

BTW the studd in that post above are exactly the symptons that I have so I know it is the rag joint...

LS1 will NOT work, (as stated above, off by 90)


just drill the rivets out of the rag joint, and replace them with bolts than you can tighten down.. no more play

I know that you can get a rag jint eliminator. Look here: http://www.unbalancedengineering.com/Camaro/

Scroll down and you will see it. That will eliminate the play and firm things up !
